This month our free resource is a guided spelling workbook that invites parents to work with their children for 5 minutes a day to learn to spell a particular word. Pupils are introduced to the Picture-Story Method of spelling and challenged to learn 5 words a week. Essentially, parents are shown how to run brief spelling sessions each day and how to administer a short spelling test every Saturday. Both student and parent are invited to reflect upon their learning experience using a “Win-Learn-Change” template. The booklet is suitable for parents of students aged 8 to 14, and contains daily activities for 2 weeks. The spelling method this month suits visual learners. Next month, the spelling method introduced will be the Letter-by-letter Method, which suits auditory learners.
