As Positively MAD moves onwards and upwards towards becoming even more effective and impactful, we are recruiting the personnel who are best able to assist us in our aims and objectives. With this in mind, we are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Colin Betts whose impressive resume and extraordinary experience are ideal for our plans for expansion and company growth.
Colin’s experience in the corporate world will be invaluable for our company as we look to become not just a dominant force in the UK education market but an internationally-recognised brand with global reach.
We caught up with Colin recently to interview him about his role in the company and his vision for future success.
Posmad: Good morning Colin, and thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to talk to us about your role in the company. Before you do, can I ask you to provide a brief bio so our readers can better understand where you come from?
Colin: Thank you. Yes. Well, my background is very much in corporate consultancy, specialising in set-up, configuration and handover to businesses as they grow to meet their expansion aspirations. I have been working internationally, with major corporations, and have been instrumental in helping them become more successful at what they do.
Posmad: The corporate world is huge – why were you attracted to a small company like ours?
Colin: Actually, I have known both of your directors for many many years, and have watched Positively MAD grow and expand across the UK. I was planning to take a year off to explore the possibility of establishing a branch of Positively MAD in Australia, and had plans to emigrate there.
However, because of family commitments here, my Australian plans were changed, and it was at this time that Positively MAD approached me with an offer to assist them in their desire to grow from good to ‘great’.
Posmad: So is that what you hope to achieve with our company – to help us move from being a highly effective company to one which is great, with global reach?
Colin: Yes, very much so. I plan to assist Positively MAD in the facilitation of steady growth so they we can implement world-class services and products for all of our staff and customers. I want to help the company streamline and simplify what it does so that it can grow more efficiently.
This will entail implementing and championing cost leadership initiatives as well as ensuring that the transfer of ideas and strategies is more efficient and effective.
Posmad: So is that your vision – to make the company a global force?
Colin: Well it is a shared vision: to take Positively MAD’s products and services to all young people –no matter where they may be in the world.
It’s about providing all young people with the tools to empower them to improve their lot in life, to give them the opportunity to reach their full potential, to assist them in dreaming big, to help them make their aspirations a reality.
My role in the company is to help Positively MAD become an international presence in the global education service market.
Posmad: So where, then, do you see yourself in 5 years' time?
Colin: In 5 years? Well, I do have an exit strategy in mind, and that is to help Positively MAD establish a non-executive board to advise, inform and shape the company’s future.
I see myself being part of that non-executive board, with a clear role in determining the vision for the next ten years. The company has short, medium and long-term aspirations, and I can see my role developing as each stage of Positively MAD’s growth is realised.
Posmad: Well Colin, we are extremely grateful and very excited to have you on board. Your experience and expertise will definitely help shape and determine our growth for the future. Thank you very much for your time, Colin, and welcome to the family that is Positively MAD.
Colin: It is my pleasure. I am genuinely excited about what Positively MAD does for learners and young people and am looking forward to helping the company become the very best not just in the UK, but across the world as well.
