On Jan 5, Alan David Pritchard had the pleasure of delivering his new teacher training course called Teaching to Remember to an enthusiastic and motivated team of teachers at Sowe Valley Primary School in Coventry.
Alan introduced the teachers to different learning tools, which he described as ‘fun toys’ that staff could use to enrich the quality of teaching and learning.
The day focussed on various ways that teachers can make their lessons more memorable – i.e. how to teach so that students remember what you teach.
Alan found the staff at Sowe Primary to be friendly, inviting and very open to new ideas, and from the feedback they provided, it is clear they had a very enjoyable and worthwhile day indeed.
This is what teachers had to say about this event:
- “Such an enjoyable and fun day while learning how to learn to use our memories.”
- “Thank you. Really enjoyable / memorable day!”
- “Wow! A teacher training day was really fun, engaging and useful. Excellent ideas presented in an inspirational way.”
- “Thank you Alan. An inspirational day with many different, practical ideas to implement into the classroom. Also very enjoyable!”
- “It was a really worthwhile day. I have been given so many ideas which I am buzzing to implement in my class. Thank you. A day well spent.”
- “A very enjoyable day’s course. Lots of good memory-developing ideas presented in various interactive ways.”
- “Thanks for an interesting day. It was nice to take away ideas rather than more work to be done. Will enjoy putting the things we learnt into practice!”
- “A good inspiration to make lessons more visual and relevant to the children’s learning. I wish I knew these techniques when I sat my exams. Will ensure that I will remind myself of the techniques and to use them as much as possible.”
- “On a personal level I can use this to help me remember an ever increasing number of responsibilities at home or work. For pupil guidance – the experience has allowed me to make connections with embryo ideas and topped up my ‘toybox’. Many thanks for the motivation.”
- “I really didn’t think my brain could do so much! Some great techniques I can’t wait to try. Many thanks.”
- “It was a truly memorable day, not just for the memorizing itself, but for the ‘different’ ways of learning you showed us. It was great fun and I surprised myself at how it WAS possible to remember those memory hooks, etc. Thank you!”
Alan expresses his gratitude to all for making the course so much fun to present and wishes all the hard-working folk at Sowe Valley a truly remarkable term ahead.
