Alan David Pritchard, the creator of the 6S Study Skills System, travelled up to Preston to deliver the 6S Study Skills Course to a group of Year 10 pupils at City of Preston High School. Combining humour with a dynamic approach, he introduced the students to the Regular Review Process and provided them with a reflective journal at the end of the day. “I am most impressed with their behaviour, their warmth and the way they stayed on task and focussed throughout the day,” he reports.

100% of the students would definitely recommend the course to others, providing the following reasons:

90% of the students felt their confidence levels had improved, saying:
• I now know much better ways to study
• I think I will be able to study better because I have learnt what to do while revising
• Because my techniques are more wider, I now know more ways to study than I used to
• Studying is made a lot more easier
• Because I know ways of studying now that I didn’t before
• I could never study – now I have good techniques
• Made it easier and fun
• I feel I can remember an absolute more
• I think that I will be able to remember the things I need to
• I am more confident and don’t feel as nervous when thinking about exams
80% felt their memory had improved as a result of the course. When asked what they most liked about the course, they wrote:
• The Roman Room System because it was fun and cool
• The revision ideas because normally I wouldn’t have been able to remember things, but it helped
• Making little funny stories out of lists of items

• Number Rhyme because it was really easy and funny
• Tips on remembering

• The revision ideas because they will help me when I am doing exams
