GCSE Revision Workshop

Overview

Positively MAD's new curriculum-specific Science workshop is a clever, creative and thoroughly enjoyable learning experience for students on the C/D borderline who are preparing to study for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Science exams.. This 2 hour course allows students to experience the effectiveness of 6 fun learning tools and shows them how to apply them to learning stuff for Science.Using memory improvement techniques, the students are motivated to remember over 80 facts without rote learning or needing to make traditional notes.

Combining humour and entertainment, the Hooks, Lines and Thinkers Science course consistently delights students across the country, showing them how powerful their imaginations are at helping them to learn in fun ways. Using memory improvement techniques, the students are motivated to remember over 80 facts without rote learning or needing to make traditional notes.

The HOOKS, LINES AND THINKERS SCIENCE course has 2 main aims:

  • To help students revise for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Science exams and tests
  • To empower students with innovative, creative and effective learning tools

Course Content:

Hour One: Location Learning Systems - using the Roman Room and Journey Systems to remember the first 20 elements of the periodic table, the electromagnetic spectrum, and the human organ systems.

Hour Two: Creative Notes - using the Landscape and Portrait Summary Poster methods and the Quick-fire Quiz to make notes that encourage easy review. We focus on properties of metals, types of energy, and properties of materials, with a few other interesting bits thrown in too - like fun facts about the animal kingdom.
