Thinking Skills

Thinking Skills

We realise that in order for students to reflect meaningfully on their learning they need to employ a wide range of thinking skills – from prediction skills to evaluation skills and critical, high-order thinking. Knowing which skills to use for a particular situation and understanding how best to use those skills is what develops independent, life-long and versatile learning.

It is important, then, for teachers to model, scaffold and incorporate high-order questioning techniques and, more importantly, to be able to plan lessons that not only introduces students to various thinking skills, but also demonstrates their applications and use.

Our THINKING SKILLS Course has been created to allow teachers to reflect on present practice, to find ways to improve present practice and to assist them in designing climates of inquiry in their classrooms.
